A Faith Life

"I have been crucified with Christ; and it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me, and delivered himself up for me."

~ Galations 2:20, New American Standard Bible

Live by faith. What does that mean? To have faith is to believe or to trust. So in a Biblical sense, to have faith is to believe in and trust God.

Some find it hard to trust in that which we can't see. In many ways though, we can "see" God: in His creation, the world and everything in it, including us...by reading His word, the Bible, and His promises to us in it...when we witness miracles which could only occur by His doing. More importantly we can feel His presence and His love. The reassurance when you pray and know you're being heard? That's God who's listening. The comfort in hard times? That's God who feels your pain and wants to be there for you. The sense of peace, just knowing you're not alone? That's God.

Even with the knowledge that God's there, circumstances can test our faith. When life gets us down, we may start to wonder how, if God loves us, He can allow bad things to happen in our lives. If it weren't for Him though, we wouldn't even be here. He gives us the bad times along with the good. He has a plan for each of our lives, and if we seek His will, He reveals it to us day by day. He never promised us that life would be trouble free. He did promise to be here with us as we walk along His path.

And God does keep His promises. We all need something or someone to believe in, but in this life that's hard to find. We try putting our trust in other people and other things, only to be disappointed. God wants to be the One we put our faith in. We can do that because He's been faithful to us. He'll never turn His back on us. He is worthy of our faith in Him.

God is our Rock who we can always have faith in. He sent His only Son to die on the cross for us. Take the life that He's given you, and live by faith knowing He loves you.
