Girl Power!!!

Ok, it's the 90's and evidently, this whole girl power thing is being taken to new heights. With people like the Spice Girls (gotta love them!) proclaiming their mission of "Girl Power" (and managing to do it in RIDICULOUSLY high platform shoes, and tiny little dresses), being a chick in the 90's can be pretty golly confusing!

No more is in acceptable for chicks to merely be frizzed up, dolls hanging off the arm of some guy. We don't have to stay at home, cook clean and make babies while our dear husband goes off to work. Hey these days many women don't even get married.

Now it's more confusing. We're accepted to stand up for our rights, proclaim the cries of "CHICKS ALL THE WAY" and hey, we shouldn't even be called 'chicks' anymore anyways. We have to stand up for womankind in general, and fight for our rights, WHILE keeping up that sleek, 90's woman image.

I thought I'd take a look at what our real roles are as Christian young women, in the very real world we live in. Who better to look at then Ester, the ultimate CHICKY BABE!!

Firstly, Ester was beautiful. Who knows if it was natural beauty. As women it's up to us to make the most of what we have. Remember, you're body is the temple of the Holy Spirit. It's not vital to put so much emphasis on how you look, but spend some time developing both your inner and outer beauty. Be a beautiful person on the outside, and on the inside. I look at it as 'spiritual beauty'. Its what motivates me to spend the time making sure that the person I am inside is glorifying to God. It also motivates me to making the most of my looks. You make your own choices about stuff like makeup, hair, clothes, but seriously, it's heaps important to take a good look at the 'inner beauty'.

She was also intelligent. Man this chick was a genius. She used brains to do whatever she needed. She used logic. (psst..ya know..I reckon she might have studied at school!). To be the best young women, for Christ, take some time to make sure can think logically and intelligently. You don't even have to do it yourself, thats where the Big Guy comes in. He's only a prayer away, and He's waiting to be able to help you out! It might just be as simple as listening to your science teacher (yeaaah Ran!!!) instead of catching up on the weekend gossip. And you're probably gonna be able to stand up for your faith more in class if you listen to whats going on in class.

She had favour with the guys. Hey the king wanted this woman for his wife. Wow! Ok girls, guys aren't just things that burp lots, and can either be really icky, or drop dead gorgeous. Face it, sometime in our life, most of us are going to be partnering one of these males, maybe even for life. Ok I'm not the expert of relationships (heh heh) but here's a few tips on how to relate better to the opposite sex. Firstly, be nice to them. It sounds cliched but there are so many girls who think the only way to seem wonderful to guys is that whole 'playing hard to get' rubbish where you run around ignoring the guy, and wondering what he's going to do next. Guys are human, he's most likely to shrug you away. If a guy compliments you (hopefully every guy in your life reads the article on Chivalry we have in HYPE!!) thank him, GENUINELY. If he's wearing a nice shirt, tell him. NICE NICE NICE. Next, develop lots of friendships with guys. You don't necessary have to date the guy, but seriously, some of my best friends are guys, and as people, they are really great. It's sometime good to get advice from someone on the opposite sex, and a good Christian guy is a great thing to have around. Something else I learnt, is guys aren't just 'tough girls'. So you don't treat them like it! I'll never fully understand the way the male mind works, but it helps to have some male friends you can talk to. MOST IMPORTANTLY, be respectful! Back to that whole thing about your body being the temple of the Holy Spirit. Trying your best to look like a painted doll, and wearing clothes, showing actions and stuff which might go against your beliefs as a Christian, will probably compromise the guys Christianity too. Suggestive clothes, do just that SUGGEST something. And usually I don't think thats the stuff Christian young women want to suggest.

There are so many young women out there who are struggling to develop an identity for themselves. They don't know whether it's better to be a tough women's activist, or being a little passive sometimes. But we've got an advantage, we've got this God who created us. He wants only the best for your life. So be a young woman for Christ. Be beautiful, be feminine, WEAR PINK (whoops...sorry didn't mean to throw that in --ED). be intelligent, stand up for Christ, and be the best you possibly can. Develop your own character, and reflect Christ.

So let's get out there! Lets be females, that are starting a new revolution. We're going to be Young Women for Christ. Do the best you can, and hey..may the force be with you!
